The Sechrists Take the Sunshine State

The Sechrist Fam could not wait for some sun, fun, and graduation celebration in the Sunshine State, USA- Florida!

Warning:  Photo Bomb Ahead

The Upside: Fun
The Downside: We took a Road Trip (in a rental)

No Worries,
I came prepared with gifts for a 12 HOUR LONG journey with few stops (squished in together).

Car Trip Essentials

Every few hours the kids would open a "gift" to explore in the car.

Magnetic Car Games

License Tag Game

with Prizes!
Sushi Gummies

Special Gifts from Gigi

Movies on the iPad
(and PRAY like heck the technology works)

Uno

Since we were traveling with multi cars, we got to play musical vehicles when C & C could not take another minute beside each other!
We did a lot of SWITCHING.

Finally,
just when we decided we all hated each other guts...

we arrived!

It has been quite the year and we could not wait to enjoy relaxing time together.

The house was absolutely perfect!
I wish I was still there.

Together my
Cousin L, Gigi, T., Brother M, SiS E, Niece T, C & C, Darren, and Me [all 10]
began the memory making!

Most of our days were spent at the house or shopping or going to the resort (or eating).
The weather and views were perfect for summer FuN in the SuN.

Three generations of gals here.

Lazy River for Lazy Days
I want one of these in my backyard!

Daily stop at the Shaved Ice Shack

Splash Pad Chick

We took one day to go to a Universal Park.
Pretty much the day ended the way any expensive park ends:
people are mad, lots of rain, a shortchanged day, and me snuggling two bottles of Seagrams in my closet after hours.
I think I literally told my 15 year old son  in the pouring rain "you are getting a new mom when we get back home".

Still, we made the most of it and it wouldn't be a Sechrist Trip without a few mishaps.

Any Jurassic Park Fans!?
I LOVE Jurassic Park so much and this park combined with the theme song had me excited when we entered.
Of course, the moment we entered...
it poured rain!!
(At least in the movie when it rained, all the Action Happened!)

Park Essential:  I took this hiking pack filled with 2.5 liters of water (frozen the night before) and it kept us hydrated the whole time without waiting in line for water.

I was even able to fill it up at a water station and at Mythos.

King Kong:
Longest wait in the history of the world,
longer than the Japanese version.

I was pretty much begging King Kong to come out and put me out of my misery by the time we made it out two hours later.

 Spiderman was my FAV ride.
Marvel Town was awesome.
Connor's #1 Regret-
not moving to ride Hulk faster before the rain set in.

While I am also a semi fan of Harry Potter,
the park was simply put-
ridiculously crowded.
There was no way to enter gift shops, rides, or even order a Butterbeer without a two hour wait.
It was so disappointing but the views were incredible, and
Carlee LOVED the coaster.

I've already looked up the Harry Potter Butterbeer recipe
and I will be making it for the kids soon.
I'll tell you how it turns out.

Carlee and I spent quite a bit of time in Seuss Landing.
I felt like I had to pay homage to my elementary ed. training by spending some time with the REAL Cat in the Hat!

Seuss Landing:
It was pretty cool!

Mom
(I'm her short, chunky twin. 🤣)

I really enjoyed getting reservations at Mythos!
It was such a cool lunch experience.

I ordered the Knife, Fork, and Spoon Grilled Cheese with Tomato Bisque
Yummmmm

Soon our time of talking, laughing, exploring, and enjoying came to an end.

The girls had a LOT of work to do in their barracks.

Missing Family Meals

The car ride home was an "adventure" in itself.  Let's just say I've bought some more Seagrams and have blocked the whole thing from my mind.  Next year, we will investigate flights out.

Until next year Florida-
we love you.
