#13 for the Win

My baby boy is a teenager now!  Currently if I have to compare #3 with #13, I love the teen years.
You know #3 wore. me. out.  with such energy, but I sure do miss those cheeks.

If only I had this kid's compassion and demeanor.  I've never seen anything like it.  He is rarely, rarely negative (and believe me he has the same battles as most kids his age).
In the face of stress, he copes well.  I'm proud of you Connor!

As part of the BIG 13, Connor had a few friends and family for some rip, roaring race car driving adventures!

It was so much fun.
Everyone loves a good race!

We struggled with the right cake (because we waited until the last minute).  We were a bit disappointed at the finished product, so Connor decided to fix it up a bit and put in Denny Hamlin.

sorry Jeff Gordon

Fun & Games:

The claw machine was a hit!

This guy was the king pin at getting all the stuffed animals and gum balls!

After the party, we took a few kids on a real ride.    Why is it that riding on the back of a truck never gets old?

Happy Birthday Connor!  We love you.
You are richly blessed with such good family and friends.

Woodstock 2018

We made it through a groovy first week of school.
I'm not going to lie, our mornings were NOT fun.  Finding the right shorts (not too short), waking early, and remembering all school materials was a challenge.  I think by Thursday we hit our stride.  I've had a chance to meet with all of my students and honestly, I'm going to love, love them.  I call them talkative sweethearts-  they love to talk but remain sweet.

Sixth, Seventh, First....  one week down!

It just so happens that I had the opportunity to celebrate finishing my first week by going to-- Woodstock!   I was jazzed man.
Several of the girls and I got tickets to see The Reeves House Band- Plays Woodstock 1969  (minus a few friends that couldn't attend, we missed you  😞).

We all agreed to meet at 222 Public House dressed in our most Flower Power attire!!
Don't we look groovy?

The food and the company was soooo happenin' man.
We had a few ladies that actually were young women during Woodstock and told us a few stories about it.  Mainly the mamas did NOT allow them to go to Woodstock (which we joked is why they are around today).

We talked about the music and the violence of the time.  People wanted a music concert with peace and love, little did they know it would create one of the most memorable events in American history.
This is what I love about this group- there is always a great story.  Always.

Some people got (fake) tatted up for the evening- Far Out!

You like my totally awesome hairband? It is outta' this world.

I miss C. (my soul sister) soooo bad.
Every time I am with her I laugh until my sides hurt.  She is so fun.

C. wore a flower belt turned into a headband and I went more for the Janis Joplin route: wild hair, flowy top, beads with a peace sign, and a hip scarf (which A. took because it went with her Willy Nelson shirt (sigh) the sacrifices we make for friends).

The Irreplaceable Ms. J. :  She is OUT OF SIGHT!

The Reeves House Band was totally awesome.
I didn't know any of the words but I tried to sing along anyway.  Truly, this group is so talented.  They had every instrument going and rocked the house.  #gnarly
A group of us have decided they need to do 80s hairbands next!  (I can't wait for that theme.)

Everyone was a groovin' and a movin'
A total gas.

I could not see one inch in front of me with my 60s glasses but I kept trying to wear them to look "cool".  Whenever I wanted to see something I had to push them down on my nose like a librarian (like when I walked).   It ruined my whole vibe man.

Overall, I call Woodstock II a success - I felt the peace and love (and we had full access to clean water).
Peace Out
