Weekend Highlights

November is here and I am sick again!!!
This virus has decided to camp out in my upper chest/ lungs.
Has anyone ever heard of black elderberry as an immune booster?
Gummies are so much cheaper but I wonder if they are effective!?!
At this point, I would TRY dog doo.

I'm so sick of being sick
but this weekend,

we didn't let much get us down!
There is always time for friends, play, and laughter.

This weekend,
Connor was showing Darren a wrestling move called the "surfboard" (even though his dad still towers over him).

Hilarious.

Say a prayer for my little wrestler.
I know this is such a MOM thing, but I worry about his safety during wrestling season.  I don't even know why people like this sport so much.

I had a little morning/ girl time with my peanut!

This. Girl.
She has been begging me to let me dye her hair.
We have tried some temporary sprays and powers, but I am really trying to get her to stay away from permanent, chemical enhancement of any kind.

This weekend, this child walks out of her room with red tips!!
fashionista

It took me a while to get it out of her BUT this little stinker took a RED SHARPIE to her head!!!
She colored her entire mid length.

Can you believe it looks so good!?
I don't know where she got the idea or how it worked but
GOOD-NESS.  I'm expecting her to walk out of her room with a shaved head any day now.  #helpmeJesus
How I'm going to harness this little Fashionista??  She will certainly have an Innovative Beauty Shop one day.
***********

Another weekend highlight was my Birthday Lunch.
Last year was such a HUGE celebration,

this year was more intimate.
This was so nice for me since I was both tired and recovering.

Happy #41.

We always have a good time.
Always

Ms. C. had the best idea- personal pan pizzas paired with salad & wine.
It  was sooooooo good that I bought the ingredients for the kids after church (minus the wine of course).

We had a great time just laughing and talking by the fire.
I miss my friends.
Life is all about managing work, family, and kids.
It was so nice to take a few minutes.
It makes me appreciate family time MORE.

A lovely meal and truly the most thoughtful gifts.
I am not deserving.

So now of course the Fun Girls have to throw BIRDS into my presents (because I detest bird watching).
I even put one in my house,
and it makes me laugh every time I look at it.

Today was back to reality with a little prednisone/ Dr Pepper Combo.
Makes me totally insane but I tackle a list like the Tazmanian Devil.

School projects, homework, and lesson planning complete.

House and Kitchen Cleaned

Living Room Vacuumed

Grocery Shopping/  Meal Prep for the Week
(I REFUSE TO LET THE HOLIDAYS MAKE ME MORE UNHEALTHY)

4 Loads of Laundry washed & folded

Outfits Planned for the Week

Race On
(anyone else's son obsessed with racing?)

Put out my birthday candles (a gift),
don't they look awesome?

Darren and the Kids took down the falling net on the Trampoline-
another prayer that no one breaks their neck without the net.

And NOW the Grand Finale-
45 Best Christmas Movies ON Netflix

I've watched 3.
Although right now BET network is showing all Tyler Perry Movies and who does not LOVE Diary of a Mad Black Woman and anything Madea!!
I might stick with Madea to carry me through Monday morning-

Happy Halloween

Somewhere along the lines Halloween Day became Halloween WEEK!
Some of my students said Halloween was cancelled on Thursday due to rain/tornados but by Friday I was done (hey, I walked around in the 80s in a plastic costume with a coat in the rain, and didn't have any trunks to treat from).

Jem - Ooky Spooky! - #Jem #Ooky #spooky
80s vintage JEM (they came in a box).

Carlee's tumbling class had a fun dress up night

and so did her ballet and tap class!  Are they not the cutest!?!

Every year I buy Carlee a costume and then she wears something different.
Here she made her own unicorn costume.

She ran into her cuz who was a mermaid.
They both look very enchanted.

The next day she pulled out a cheerleading costume.

At least she kept to Elsa during our Trunk or Treat.

Though it was raining, the indoor plan reminded me of an old fashioned Halloween carnival like we had when I was a little girl.  It was very nostalgic.

Connor (who never dresses up), asked to stop by for some make up last minute and turned himself into the Joker.  One thing I will say- my kids are NOT lacking in the creative department.

Dad and Joker

Connor loves giving out candy.
He is so great with kids and people.

I was in an Elsa dress with very itchy sleeves.
By 7pm I was wiped out, by 8:30 I was home and in bed with my Elsa dress thrown in a crumble!

Oh No!  The Joker has little Elsa!

SpongeBob and Han Solo here to save the day!

Joker found cousin Harley Quinn,
who is much too cute and little to be a true villain

Mermaid Station

Poke a Pumpkin for a Prize

Football Throw

Fall School Party

It was such fun.  These girls are growing up quickly.

Our pals Mrs. J. and D.

The class played Halloween Bingo and Carlee won a prize.

Carlee and I are the perfect cupcake partners.
She eats the cake and I eat the icing.

I always find my kindred spirt in the crowd.
We were all about that orange frosting.

How about Carlee's Santa scrunchie?
She is all about some Christmas now.

For Trick or Treating, Carlee created yet ANOTHER costume.
This one is called a 'Human Mermaid Princess'

I stopped asking questions a long time ago (and yes, I probably need to clean out her costume box).

Darren went out with Carlee and I stayed home to study for a test with Connor.  Although he deems himself too old to go out, he sometimes helps Carlee.
Don't you love "big kid" school? NOT

Being an introvert (and not having the extrovert big brother), Carlee returned home after about 20 minutes.  She
scored some loot.

Now to keep it from Joker.

After surviving Halloween week,
I did a Strange Thing-

I laid in bed half the day and FINALLY watched the first season of Stranger Things.  It was festive! I love these rare days.

My students LOVE this show, so I gave it another shot.  It is an odd combo of E.T. and X Files.  The plot was ok but the cast was amazing.
They should all win awards for talent in acting.

I will check out season 2 just because I'm invested at this point.

Don't forget to FALL forward.  I hate it will dark all the time now but I am going to enjoy that extra hour of sleep. 😴
